As many of you know I’ve had computer problems the past few days. I had 2 Trojan Qhosts (they modify networks) and 1 Trojan Popuper (which hijacks internet explorer). My virus program AVG alerted me that something was going on but it was Spyware Doctor that found the Trojans, though I could not find a program to remove them and the only answer was to reformat windows. Luckily it was not a virus to affect my files just windows. I reloaded all my drivers and programs but one, which prevented me from getting on the internet. At first there was a lot of confusion about what this driver was and was told by dell support that I needed a new PCI card or even a new Motherboard! I’m not complaining as they were very helpful and gave me free support even though my computer is 4 years old. P.S. If you need free support tell them you are in the market for a new computer. (I didn’t, I think they just expected it). Anyway, when I was installing my USB Ethernet in June I had an updated version of windows then on my computer and I didn’t need a disc or anything to install it but when I reformatted I was using a 2002 Windows XP disk and it didn’t have the Driver I needed and it just took me a while to figure this all out. So my Internet provider hunted me up a disc (to use Southern English). The first thing I did was update windows etc. and downloaded Firefox instead of using Explorer so I won’t get back into this situation. I do back up regularly and have an external hard drive that I keep my files on and I also run a AVG every day, it just goes to show you. It is good to be back though.
