The kids spent hours decorating the parking lot at Carrie's Coffee House. This is a photo of part of it.
The photo above is why you should be nice to young kids! We taught Caleb when he was little at Children's Church. It's been a rough weekend at the Coffee House. We learned that one of our kids who outgrew the Coffee House took his life last week. His sister still comes to the Coffee House and is there every weekend and was there this past weekend. Join us in keeping his family in our prayers. I added an album in the Coffee House MySpace "In Loving Memory" and have his photo there as well as a lady who used to come often with her son who lost her battle to cancer. Another of our kids is rumored to be pregnant. I must admit, also, I was a bit let down by the United Way refusing us funding. It is understandable though. We just changed out our board after 4 years of serving and some of the new board members for good reasons have not been able to yet be at a board meeting this year. It just looks bad on paper. So our main problems were Board Member attendance, and continuity of the Board. I did not write down in the minutes of meetings who voted yes or no, if it carried I just put that the vote carried which means 4 out of 6 voted for it. Little things like that were a problem. Mike says I just saved myself even more paperwork which is true. So the Kitchen remodeling at the Coffee House will just have to come from somewhere else. We already have a gas stove and kids eager to learn how to cook.
Mike is feeling much better after a week of sickness but I'm afraid I came down with it Thanksgiving night and am in misery. Bad cold, aches and pains and no energy at all. Mike is being a big help, bringing me cups of tea and helping me do the washing. I'm headed back to bed for a nap after this. Keep Isla in your prayers also as she has a tough week this week with school before she is out for Christmas.
