By My Husband's Request

I was told yesterday to update my blog. I've been having too much fun with my parents here from Scotland to keep up with it, but here I am. My camera broke last Saturday at the Coffee House also, so I am low on photos, but got a new one yesterday and will soon get the hang of it I hope.

It is so nice to have Mum and Dad around. We went to the big city of Tupelo yesterday and walked around in the cool morning air. Went to the Market and got some veggies, home baked goodies. It was fun shopping with Mum, I have missed that over the years and look forward to little outings like that with Isla. While Mum was in the changing room trying on some trousers I noticed this suit in the back of the store that had her name written all over it, so guessing at her size I picked one out and took it for her to try on and it was sooooo cute on her. So I have decided I do have taste after all, Mum said so, ask her. Poor Dad was a bit bored, not many book shops where we went but he was a good sport, though running away when Mum mentioned that he look at new jackets.

Mum and Dad love the Coffee House and are amazed by it. They were a lot of help Friday as none of our workers showed up. It was quite confusing at times with the language barrier, but Mum managed. I would look out from the kitchen once in a while and Dad would be playing checkers or pool with the kids, I think he made some wee friends. They even stayed Saturday night for the loud music as the band played. Mum quickly got the hang of the coins and how to count up what. Monday we were walking around the big town of Fulton and when through went by the Coffee House and Dad had his own personal cup of Coffee, while Mum and I sorted out cups that were donated. She wants to clean the windows for us at the Coffee House. Big job!

It was great to see Isla and James Saturday and Sunday. I so enjoy my wee chats with Isla and also feel a healing in them, much like my talks with my own Mum. She's more than my own daughter now, she's probably at this point my best friend, as I don't have time to have really good friends right now apart from Mike. We had fun going to the vineyard and picking muscadines and then working them when we got home. Mike is a slave driver at heart. We had fun though and will enjoy the end product I'm sure.

Mike has been busy also working on the driveway. We had a load of limerock delivered and he and a shovel and bucket spread the whole thing. He is one of the hardest workers I know, always doing something. I know that part of his drive has to do with Carrie's Death and the thought that he could possibly die and leave me with this house unfinished etc. He wants to get through with it. He is driven, I know that, he knows that. I guess keeping busy helps also.

We went by the library and saw Laura, she looks well and it was great to see her. I got a lovely note from her after saying how she misses Carrie. After all this time, I still look for her to walk in the door or something, it is a constant telling myself, no she is gone. Especially with Mum and Dad here her presence is obviously absent as she would be right in the middle of things, cutting up with Gran. I can hear her laugh.

I used to think it would be good to have a really close girlfriend but I have come to think that one's husband should be one's best friend and one should be able to talk about anything. As for shopping with a friend I have found it is not the same as shopping with my daughter. Perhaps we are able to read each other's mind as to cost and suitability!
I really forgot(sort of purposely) about the coffee shop windows when I looked at the extent of them. Did you not know I do not like cleaning windows and that is one very good reason for not having a conservatory. I will gladly pay for a window cleaner to do the windows at the coffee shop- that is if there are such people in Fulton
