What a weekend so far

Friday was super busy at the Coffee House. When we got there, we found out the Coke Machine was running but not cooling. The photo below is what the heat did to the cans in the machine. It also exploded some of the cans and it is really sticky inside the machine. So, as soon as we got there Mike had to leave in search of coolers and ice. I was the only one in the kitchen most of the night. Isla came in later to help. It was really busy.

Saturday I tried out my new lawnmower that Mike got me. It is nice. Took me half as long to cut grass and wasn't as bed on my arm as the weedeater is all the time. Isla and James went to Pontotoc Saturday and bought a washing machine, used for $100 to go with the dryer we gave them. So when they move they will be all set up.

Last night, what started out as fun turned into one of the worst nights I have had at the Coffee House. We were not as busy as Friday and things were pretty much relaxed and easy going. We have the odd kid we put in the "Time Out" chairs if they are caught misbehaving. The rules are posted on the door as they come in, if they don't abide they sit there (in the time out chair) for 5-20 minutes or so depending on what they did. We are not a business so we can have rules like these. Well once in a while Mike will have to deal with irate parents who come up there after their child has gone home and embellished or made up a story about the Coffee House and what goes on there. Some of them are ready to start a fight over what they think happened to their child up there until they find out the whole story etc. Well last night a lady and a guy came up there and did just that. The guy ( I don't know if he was a husband or boyfriend) didn't say one word. The end result was that she was going to do all in her power to have the Coffee House shut down. I also received a call from a Grandmother (I think about the same incident) that said quote: Kids Name "_____ says that some boys up there were wanting to jump on him, and I just wanted to let you know I am going to do everything I can to have ya'll shut down". hang up phone without letting me respond. I'm afraid it got to me pretty bad. People just don't have a clue. These kids need more Coffee Houses and more volunteers, not shut us down. I guess they think we are a business. Their kids aren't required to be at the Coffee House, they get dropped off and we handle every situation we come across. Do things happen at the Coffee House that slip by us, I'm sure they do. The things we go through for the fun of it.

I told Mike for Christmas I was getting him a bullet proof vest. Hehhehe! He has to handle parents like this and once in a while has to tell a child at the Coffee House to not come back ever, a potential disgruntled employee was just fired at FMC, he is Lake President and has to handle situations on the Lake etc. It might come in handy.
