Mike is looking through old scrap books and photos for the first time tonight. He hasn't been able to and feels like this is a milestone of sorts. A lot of laughter and tears.
One story I had forgotten about was when Carrie was little and had eaten at Granny Schuchs house and told me she had "Fried Elephant". Must have been fried eggplant, but at the time I thought it might be dove as Ruthie had recently grilled some dove. Carrie giggled at this and said "Granny can't catch doves!"
Or when Carrie and a friend decided to take of running down the isle of a grocery store and I told her to "Quit Running!" To my amazement she kept running until I heard her call back to Isla "Mum said to keep running!"
I have scrap books full of cards that say "I love you" and finger prints in paint, drawings, stories of what she wanted to be when she grew up.
Thanks for the call Mum. It is the two year mark and I have to honestly say it is easier (some things) but like you said we still miss her terribly.
